Chitlins! Can you believe it’s been almost a month since I did a TWD? I know, it’s blasphemy. I’m so sorry.
But this week I bring you popovers! Yay! They’re so easy, and bonus: you don’t even need a popover pan. Yeah, I know right? I was totally stoked on that too.
Know what’s an even bigger bonus: they take like 3 nanoseconds to put together, true story. Sadly, they take way longer than 3 nanoseconds to bake, but whatever. It’s worth it. In fact, these are so easy to put together that I was able to whip up a batch after returning from a wedding weekend and suffering a horrendous hangover that same morning. Yeah – it’s hangover food easy. Amazeballs.
My favorite way to eat popovers is with strawberry butter – there was (is?) a restaurant on the Upper West Side called Popover that served these enormous beauties (there’s were plate size, for real) with giant crocks of strawberry butter. It was amazing. But because I didn’t get my act together in time I didn’t make strawberry butter, so I defaulted to some freshly churned butter (courtesy of the farmer’s market) and honey. Still delicious.
Mine are stored in the fridge for now, though I’m told they won’t taste as good. I can report back later this week with an update. Go whip up a batch of these lovelies and impress your weekend brunch guests. You won’t disappoint.
