Well, Chitlins. It’s officially cookie swap season! I’m all signed up for the 3rd annual Food Blogger Cookie Swap (and only mildly panicked about what the hell I’m going to bake) and my mom is in a panic about where she’s going to buy her “homemade cookies” for Bunco swap. I’m crossing my fingers my mother’s friend brings her amazing cookie platter to the annual holiday party next month (I live for those cookies).
To help you I’m doing a round-up of all the cookies I’ve ever made on the blog. Please ignore the fact that I apparently have an obsession with chocolate chip cookies (and that I’ve apparently posted the same variation of a recipe twice in 2 years, woops!). Get your whisks and baking sheets out boys and gals, it’s time for a sugar rush!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ahh the classic CCC, so many ways to make it even more addictive than it already is. And don’t let anyone tell you a good CCC isn’t good enough for a cookie swap, because let me tell you. An expertly crafted CCC will knock any other cookie to the ground – even a macaron (GASP! I said it).
Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies from Bouchon Bakery
Followed by the classic Chocolate Chip and Bacon Cookies
And my other favorite Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
And if big and chewy isn’t your thing there’s the classic Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie oh and I added Bourbon.
Let’s move on to my tied for 1st favorite, sprinkled cookies.
The ever popular Italian Butter Cookies – which I think taste way better than the store bought variety. Make sure you use cake flour, or these will spread into tarnation.
Or house about the Cake Batter Confetti cookies. They remind me of holiday lights.
Or how about those Lofthouse Style sugar cookies that make the kids go crazy? Personally, these are some of my favorite cookies. They’re like childhood encased in sugar, what more could you ask for? Swap out that St. Paddy’s theme for some blue and white, or green and red, wham bam thank you ma’am!
And last but not least the late great Grandma Kusy’s Italian White Cookies (side note, I do not miss my Instagram only pic days, yeesh).
Slice ‘n’ Bake and Rollouts
If slice ‘n’ bake is more your style, I am a girl after your heart. Throw together a monster batch and slice and bake at will? YespleasewheredoIsign?
Let’s start with my all time favorite: Slice ‘n’ Bake Butterscotch cookies. You can color coordinate the frosting to whatever holiday you heart desires.
Same technique but a unique flavor, Chocolate Tea Cookies. It’s like a cup of tea, in a cookie. It’s a 2-for-1!
Or maybe you’re all about that cookie butter/speculoos/biscoff trend that’s still sweeping the nation. This roll out version with Biscoff sandwiched in the middle – divine!
Maybe you’re a classicist and all you want is a nice traditional Almond Shortbread. I salute you in sticking by your vanilla ways. Hell, a great shortbread is hard to beat, and everyone enjoys seeing it on their holiday plate.
And of course it wouldn’t be holiday cookie season with out a post on the classic Roll-out Sugar Cookie. Set that table with sprinkles and frosting and let the kids run loose for three hours, or however long their attention span lasts. I just made your holiday weekend plans, you’re welcome/I’m sorry.
