It’s Friday. Let’s not do work, m’kay?
I’m developing an addiction to instagram feeds that follow the bonds between children and their pets (apparently specifically their dogs). Also, I need to practice made photography skills for when I have a kid so Boo can become famous too.
Getting deep: Why we should stop using the word “ethnic” with regard to immigrant food. I had to stop and pause for a minute and think if I’ve used that term recently (or ever). I think I always refer to the nationality of the food. At least I hope I do.
Perhaps you’ve heard of the restaurant owner who screamed at a child. I condone exactly no one in that article (mother or restaurant owner). But this article, on how not to be a dick with a toddler in a restaurant, is pretty spot on.
In college I took a class on the philosophy of art. One of our classes consisted of the professor flashing images on the screen of anonymous artworks and asking us to determine if they were considered “good” or “bad” art. One painting was of a rather pretty landscape scene. We all universally acknowledged that it was good. Then she revealed it was by Hitler. That was a tough moment, humanizing Hitler. Just as these photos do the same thing. He’s a terrifyingly interesting man.
When we were kids my parents shipped my sister and I off to an all-girl sleep-away camp. My sister did not take too kindly to camp. I can only imagine what it would have been like if cellphones and texting existed then.
I simply cannot with human stupidity some days. What would possess you to make a gun shaped phone case? Or purchase one for that matter?
