Happy New Year, Chitlins! Did everyone have a rockin’ new year and a bodacious first week of 2017? Did I really just say bodacious. Good lord, who am I?
I obviously had a nice long, relaxing holiday. I did have a minor 36-hour stomach flu right after Christmas but bright side? I didn’t overeat during the holidays. So that’s a win? Maybs?
How are you guys with resolutions? I occasionally make them. Mostly when I think they’re something I can accomplish. Does that make it a resolution? Or just a goal? Is that the same thing? I dunno.
Anyhoodle. Last year my resolution was to run a race month. And I completed it! It was a little touch and go, I almost didn’t have a race in July because of vacation but I managed to squeeze one in on July 30th when my folks told me about a race at home. And I almost didn’t have a race in December because the one I was supposed to run was cancelled due to snow. So I had to drive north and catch a race on New Years Eve. Dedication or just crazy? You decide.
This year I’ve set another running goal that I’m pretty sure I can accomplish. I mean I have a whole year to do it. And my other resolution is to bake a recipe a week from my favorite Christmas present – Dorie’s Cookies. I’ll be posting them hopefully every week, as long as I’m not on vacation. I won’t post all the recipes, unless I think they’re spectacularly awesome, because I really think you should just buy the book. Dorie is amazing. Support her.
First up, these flavor bombs of sesame and chocolate. AKA my new favorite flavor combo. These pack a one-two punch of sesame: 1) sesame crunch, 2) tahini. Definitely the perfect cookie to start my project.
