Hello Chitlins! Did you miss me? I hope so, I missed you. And boy do I have a treat for you this week!
If you take a glance up to the top of your screen where my banner is you may see a beautiful rose cake. This was the “lactard” friendly cake I made last year for my family’s annual boozefest/shopping trip that happens at my Aunt’s house. I have officially taken over lactard cake duties it seems and this year I did not slack.
Hey Chitlins! So if you’ve been reading any of the other TWD blog posts about popovers you might have noticed how many of them mentioned how similar this batter is to crepes. It’s true, they’re eerily similar, right down to the method of making them. And just to prove it you, I made crepes a few nights before the popovers (stroke of genius), so I have actual proof for you.
Oh man Chitlins! Do you guys have farmer’s markets near you? Because the Union Square Greenmarket is just bursting with amazeballs summer produce right now. It’s a veritable panoply of choices, I can hardly control myself. The best part though, is that I’m not the only one obsessively taking photos of produce now. It seems like everyone in New York is fascinated with all the colors!
Oh Chitlins, you wouldn’t believe the stress levels over here at the sprinkelry! My birthday is next week and I’ve been scrambling to finish all the ice creams for my party (I cross my heart I’ll take good photos this time so I can post recipes!). Not to mention The BF and I are apartment hunting, which a crazy beast of a task in NYC.
Oh dear Chitlins. My kitchen is staging a mutiny against me again. I hope to wrangle it into submission soon, but in the meantime…
It’s Tuesday With Dorie! Yay! I was really excited for this recipe because I had just finished reading My Life in France and this is a FRENCH strawberry cake, c’est parfait! But then this past weekend I was putting together a cupcake order for Coach and half the wrappers peeled off my cupcakes so I didn’t fill the order all the way and sent The BF to work with some sad half-wrapped cupcakes (covered in sprinkles as a distraction).
I dunno about you, Chitlins, but I lurve me some bourbon. However, being a girl, I have a hard time drinking it straight (or on the rocks, or neat or whatever the proper terminology is), so I like to mix it with things. My favorite mixer of all time is ginger ale. But that can get old pretty quickly. And then I stumbled upon a marvelous discovery that only took me a year to recreate.
